London / 70 Years of Dior with the V&A

One Friday night, I had the chance to get a behind-the-scenes insight into the latest fashion tome, Dior Catwalk, at the V&A. Authors Alexander Fury contributor to T The New York Times Style Magazine, and Susannah Frankel, editor-in-chief of AnOther Magazine, discussed the house of Dior, its codes, and how each designer has interpreted them throughout the brand's 70 years.

Largely based around Monsieur Christian Dior's "woman as flower" ideology, we followed the New Look, sloped shoulders, corsetry, and endless tiers of material through the various Dior designers. Interestingly enough, it's only Dior's current head designer, Maria Grazia Chiuri, who has chosen to reference other Dior designers (John Galliano, Gianfranco Ferré, Raf Simons..), as well as the original.

Would love to get my hands on this book!

Scandi Styling / Aquavit Jumpsuit

As you know, I dined at London's Swedish restaurant Aquavit the other day. I styled one of my current favourites, this tiger jumpsuit, with walkable silver heels, my classic Chanel 2.55, and Felice Dahl gold. I love this look because, it's a flattering silhouette, the midnight blue and silver colours are ever-chic, and it's easy to just throw on and go!

Scandi London / Aquavit Dinner

Recently, I celebrated a birthday dinner at Aquavit London. It was my second time eating there, and I was even more impressed than the first time! The traditional Swedish cuisine is prepared with the highest quality ingredients, amping it up to another level. I particularly enjoyed the sweet rye bread, meatballs, charlotte potatoes, and stunning classic Swedish interior design.

We also sat outside and enjoyed a drink on Aquavit's terrace. A good outdoor space is always, always appreciated - especially in London, where there aren't so many such options.

Absolutely recommend it.

London / Haute Couture at The Fashion Textile Museum

Years ago, when I trained to be a fashion stylist, I studied the History of Fashion. Thanks to my experience in fashion, I've already worked with gorgeous contemporary gowns, and last week, I attended the Fashion Textile Museum's showing of their Haute Couture archives. I had the privilege of getting up close to original couture gowns (wearing white gloves, of course!), including 1950's Dior and Chanel, 1960's Dior (by Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent), and more recent acquisitions such as Christian Lacroix, and that mesh Oscar gown by Elie Saab for Halle Berry!
